Neighbourhoods with sustainable features

Many municipalities have a planning department. Their mandates can vary from municipality to municipality. Planning departments are responsible for both short-term and long range community planning within their planning district. Long range planning involves the preparation of a new municipal Official Plan and Zoning By-law. Short term planning includes the processing of official plan and zoning by-law amendments, site plan approvals, and plans of subdivision.  The Association of Municipalities of Ontario maintains a list of municipalities http://www.amo.on.ca/YLG/ylg/ontario.html for you to find your local municipal office.

The Ontario Trails Council is a volunteer-led non-governmental, non-profit charitable organization, promoting the creation, preservation, management and use of Ontario's recreational trails. To find a Trail near you visit: http://www.ontariotrails.on.ca/
